Love you, 2 | #NaPoWriMo2020 | Prompt 7

Prompt: Write a love poem to a number

I'm not a numbers person

But somehow I have an affinity for you, 2

You're whole, natural and integral

Just something that I relate to

Absolutely whole and complete

There's no half about it

And no half-heartedness too

You stand absolute, even if split

Natural and raw in essence

You sport no needless facade

Basic and extraordinary at once

Always blending in, never an odd

I'm not really sure about integral though

You're always right there and never known

Do you miss that kind of attention?

Second to one, but never get the throne

You are not chosen as a priority

I empathize with you, for I know it hurts some

Might miss it by a millimetre

But you never get to be the one.

And hey, maybe some things are meant to be

I'm null without you, with you I should've begun

You raise me in power

And we shall be one

I know, I know, out of the world it seems

Here, with all your glory and trouble

But look at me and think twice

Will you make me the better to your double?
